their lead to double digits Antworten

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks are slowly picking up the ball-movement lessons Mike Budenholzer learned as a longtime assistant with the Spurs. Those lessons were more than enough to overwhelm the Utah Jazz. Lou Williams scored 25 points and the Hawks continued their offensive upswing as they rolled to an easy 118-85 victory over the Jazz on Friday night, winning their third straight and for the fourth time in five games. The Hawks had 32 assists, adding to their NBA lead and bringing a smile to the face of their first-year coach. "Its an indication theyre just getting a better and better understanding of the ball movement and how we want to play," Budenholzer said. "Passing and hitting the open guy just becomes something thats expected." Atlanta set a scoring high with its 124-107 win over Sacramento on Wednesday night and has topped 110 points in three straight games. Al Horford, who had 23 points, has been a key in the recent flurry of high-scoring games. He has averaged 23.6 points in his last five games. Williams, who has played in only 14 games in his return from knee surgery, took extra shooting practice after scoring only two points in 20 minutes in Wednesday nights win over Sacramento. "Im glad it paid off," Williams said. "It was one of the nights we had everything clicking." The Hawks never trailed and pushed their lead to double digits for good in the opening period. They kept up the pressure, outscoring Utah in every period and making 52.3 per cent of their shots (45 of 86) from the field. Budenholzer said the most encouraging sign was "not so much putting them away, but just continuing to play the way we play, just doing the things we did to establish a lead. Tonight was a step forward in that direction." Jeff Teague had nine points and eight assists. Horford was resting when the Hawks took an 85-58 lead into the final period. "Our energy was the difference," Horford said. The Jazz agreed. "Its a mental thing," said Utahs Derrick Favours. "Weve just got to come out with the energy and the attitude like they had against us tonight." It was a letdown for Utah coach Tyrone Corbin following a win at Orlando on Wednesday night. "I thought we didnt come out with the sense of urgency wed been seeing," Corbin said. "I thought wed turned the corner, I felt like, the way we played in Orlando the other night. I was looking for that effort. We just didnt have it from the beginning tonight." Enes Kanter had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Utah (7-22). Alec Burks also had 13 points. Trey Burke, who scored a career-high 30 points against Orlando, made only 1 of 8 shots for two points. Atlantas Paul Millsap had 14 points and 10 rebounds against his former Utah teammates. The Hawks took their largest halftime lead of the season, pulling ahead by 21 points to lead 55-34 at the break. Horford had 14 points in the half. Kyle Korver extended his NBA record by making a 3-pointer in his 96th consecutive game. His made the first of his two 3s with 4:24 remaining in the first period. Utah had a scare midway through the third quarter when Gordon Hayward was slow to return to his feet following a collision with Teague as the two were reaching for a loose ball. Hayward remained in the game following a timeout and finished with 11 points. Jeremy Evans, the 2012 slam-dunk competition champion, missed a dunk and then landed hard on his back with 7:53 remaining, giving the Jazz another scare. Following a brief delay, Evans remained in the game and had 10 points. NOTES: The Jazz are 0-11 on the road and 1-13 overall when trailing at halftime. ... Williams was 6 of 10 from 3-point range. Anthony Rizzo Cubs Jersey . "I had a pretty good year," the soft-spoken Granberg told TSN.ca with a grin from the teams annual rookie tournament in London. A fourth-round selection in 2010, Granberg is worth keeping an eye on with NHL training camps rolling around in less than a week. The six-foot-two, 200-pound defender may not possess the wow-inspiring theatrics of fellow prospect Morgan Rielly, but nonetheless has a chance to contribute with the Leafs when all is said and done this season. Moises Alou Cubs Jersey . Henry, who missed three games with a knee injury, was charged with a handball in the penalty area in the 82nd minute as he went to block a strike from Patrick Mullins. PAUL, Minn – The clock lingered for what seemed like an interminable two minutes and 51 seconds before Mark Fraser finally escaped to the bench during a wildly one-sided first period of an eventual loss to Boston.LANDOVER, Md. - On a day in which the St. Louis Rams finished off their first back-to-back set of shutouts since 1945 — and made a not-so-subtle statement about getting the better of the Robert Griffin III trade — they again sent a message thats bigger than football.Several Rams players wrote the words I Cant Breathe on their equipment Sunday, displaying the message before and during a 24-0 win over the Washington Redskins.I feel like we should support what we feel is right, said guard Davin Joseph, who had the words on his cleats during the pregame warmup. Some were among the group that performed a Hands Up, Dont Shoot! show of solidarity — and were criticized for their activism — before a home game a week earlier in the wake of a grand jurys decision not to indictment the police officer who shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. The I Cant Breathe message references Eric Garner, who died at the hands of a New York police officer in a case that also did not get an indictment from a grand jury.Every life in this world is worth something, and when you lose one, it hurts, no matter who it is, Joseph said.As football players, the Rams are doing a good job separating their protests from the work theyre doing between the white lines, taking advantage of a plummeting franchise for the second straight week. They routed the Oakland Raiders 52-0 a week earlier and now stand at 6-7, a decent showing for a season that could have fallen apart after Sam Bradfords knee injury in August. The Rams hadnt blanked two opponents in a row in 69 years, since the Cleveland Rams beat the Chicago Cardinals 21-0 and the Chicago Bears 17-0.1945? Were about to shut out three! defensive tackle Michael Brockers said. Whens the last time we shut out three? That would be never. Brockers will get a chance to back up the guarantee at home against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.Brockers also proclaimed a boastful victory in the RG3 trade. He was one of six Rams in Sundays game — all of whom took part in the coin toss — who were part of St. Louis three-year haul stemming from the mega-deal that allowed the Redskins to select Griffin at No. 2 overall in the 2012 draft.I will always be remembered as (being a part of) that blockbuster trade, Brockers said. And, you know, the Rams won.dddddddddddd The Rams won that one.Griffin was benched two weeks ago by coach Jay Gruden, but he made an appearance Sunday in the final two minutes after starter Colt McCoy suffered a sprained neck while getting sacked for the sixth time. McCoy was taken to a hospital for X-rays.Griffin was sacked once during his brief appearance, making the Rams total seven for the game and 29 in their last six games. St. Louis limited Washington to 206 total yards. Jared Cook caught a pair of touchdown passes, and Tavon Austin returned a punt 78 yards for a score. The Redskins (3-10) dropped their fifth straight and clinched their fifth double-digit loss season in six years as they head into another December of turmoil that will focus on the futures of coaches and quarterbacks. The offence was booed again in a half-empty stadium.Ive said rock-bottom once before, Washington linebacker Ryan Kerrigan said. It downplays what rock-bottom is if you keep saying (it) every time you lose.McCoy completed 20 of 32 passes for 199 yards with two interceptions. Hes been sacked 12 times in two weeks. Gruden said hell have to learn more about McCoys neck injury before deciding on a starter for next week. The Redskins played without their principle downfield threat, DeSean Jackson, who sat out with a bruised left shin after not practicing all week. Alfred Morris rushed for a meagre six yards on eight carries. Its just the same story — different Sunday, Washington nose tackle Chris Baker said.NOTES: The Rams from the Griffin trade who played were Brockers, Janoris Jenkins, Alec Ogletree, Greg Robinson, Stedman Bailey and Zac Stacy. ... St. Louis K Greg Zuerlein missed an extra point, a 28-yard chip shot and a 38-yard attempt — all wide right — before sneaking one just inside the upright from 34. After the game in the locker room, coach Jeff Fisher turned Zuerleins day into a light-hearted moment by having holder Johnny Hekker put the ball down and Zuerlein kick it into a locker in front of the team. Anytime you have a day like this, its never easy to show your face around everyone, Zuerlein said. But coach Fisher is awesome.___AP NFL websites: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL___Follow Joseph White on Twitter: http://twitter.com/JGWhiteAP ' ' '
