RIO DE JANEIRO -- Australian swimmer Josh Palmer has visited Rio police who are investigating his claims he was threatened with a gun and robbed in Copacabana.While Palmer did not report the alleged theft to police, they called on him to give a full statement.Palmer went on an all-night bender in Copacabana on Tuesday night, and was disoriented and missing his phone when a stranger came to his aid at 2pm on Wednesday.He said an armed man had forced him to withdraw $1000 from an ATM but he refused to take the matter to police, contrary to the advice of the Australian Olympic Committee.However, the matter came to the attention of Brazilian authorities anyway and they are now investigating.Palmer went to a Rio police station with team security chief Greg Nance on Saturday afternoon.Weve spoken to Josh this morning and he is getting his notes together and he will be making a statement to police today, Australias team boss Kitty Chiller said earlier on Saturday.Its not an investigation into Josh obviously.
