Jones and Roberto Castro were teeing off on No. 1 Antworten

MILAN, Italy -- Palermo was relegated from Serie A after losing 1-0 to Fiorentina from former player Luca Tonis goal on Sunday. The result left the Sicilian side five points behind 17th-place Genoa, which drew 0-0 at home to Inter Milan. With one round remaining, Torino also secured safety with a 1-1 draw at Chievo Verona. It is six points above Palermo. Genoas result meant Siena was also relegated, without kicking a ball. It later lost 2-1 at second-place Napoli. Palermo and Siena join already relegated Pescara in Serie B next season. Fiorentina moved two points behind AC Milan in the race for third spot, ensuring the battle for the Champions League qualifying spot goes down to the final round. Roma drew 0-0 at 10-man Milan in a match which was briefly suspended in the second half because of racist chanting directed at Italy striker Mario Balotelli by the visiting Roma fans. "Unfortunately in Italy there is still this mentality, with a culture which is a bit retrograde," Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri said. "People should go to the stadium to watch a football match. Unfortunately these things continue to happen. "We had two games to clinch third spot, now we only have one left. We have to try to win at Siena. We are aware that destiny is in our own hands and we can win at Siena. The lads have to be calm because they have had a great year." Sulley Muntari was sent off at the end of the first half for placing his hands on the referee in an attempt to prevent the official from booking Balotelli. Roma captain Francesco Totti was also shown a straight red card after elbowing Philippe Mexes in stoppage time. With top-flight safety at stake, all three relegation matches kicked off at lunchtime. Torino had slipped closer to danger after picking up just two points from the previous seven rounds and things got worse when it found itself 1-0 down inside 10 minutes. Cyril Thereau took advantage of Valerio Di Cesares slip to fire across goal into the far corner from a tight angle. However, Torino levelled nine minutes later when Alessio Cerci converted a penalty after Dario Dainelli tripped Angelo Ogbonna. Torino should have been awarded another penalty in the second half for a poor tackle by Bostjan Cesar on Ogbonna, but the referee waved away the appeals. In Tuscany, Toni came back to haunt Palermo. Toni scored 30 league goals in his first season at Palermo, to fire them into the top flight in 2004 for the first time in 31 years. The Italian striker then helped the side qualify for Europe before departing for his first spell at Fiorentina. He scored four minutes from halftime. Borja Valero sent Juan Cuadrado down the right flank and his cross to the far post allowed Toni to slot home from close range. Fabrizio Miccolis free kick flew inches wide of the post for Palermo in the final minutes. Injury-hit Inter had lost seven of its past nine matches to leave them out of Europe next season for the first time in 14 years. Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic kept Inter in the match with several stunning saves. And Inter almost snatched all three points when Tommaso Rocchi spun round to smash a curling shot off the crossbar. Udinese moved a step closer to securing the last Europa League spot after it beat Atalanta 2-1 for a record seventh successive victory. Antonio Di Natale, who hit the crossbar in the opening minutes, scored both goals for Udinese after Giuseppe De Lucas opener. There was bad news for Udinese as Di Natale was stretchered off with a knee injury shortly before full time. Lazio remained two points behind Udinese after a 2-0 win over Sampdoria. Sergio Floccari scored the opener and Antonio Candreva sealed the result with a cheeky chipped penalty after a clumsy challenge by Daniele Gastaldello on Ogenyi Onazi. Sampdorias Renan was sent off moments earlier for saying something to the referee. Siena had been fighting against relegation since a six-point penalty for its part in the betting scandal was imposed at the beginning of the season. It was playing for little more than pride against Napoli and took the lead through Fabrizio Grillo, on his Serie A debut. Edinson Cavani, who had hit the woodwork twice and had a goal ruled out for offside, levelled before Marek Hamsik won the match for Napoli in stoppage time. Elsewhere, goals from Saphir Taider and Davide Moscardelli gave Bologna a 2-0 win at Parma. Mike Montgomery Jersey . SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- The third and fourth rounds were going on at the same time and with different rules. There was so much rain that there was a worker with a squeegee positioned near every green. The final putts were made in what some would call the dark. There was no re-pairing after the third round and the greens werent even rolled, let along cut. Oh yeah, on Friday they put the cup on No. 10 in the wrong place. This was the PGA Championship. This was a major. This was an odd major.Nobody will take anything away from Jimmy Walker, who closed a bogey-free 3-under 67 with a 3-footer for par to finish at 14-under 266 and beat Jason Day by one stroke Sunday. All Day did to add to the drama was make an eagle 3 on No. 18 to get within a stroke.I figured birdieing 17 was huge and that was going to cap it off, Walker said. And then Jason making eagle sure made my job a lot harder on the last hole.Really cool way to finish. Making a putt like that to win, right in the middle, was just awesome. But the circumstances around some great golf were odd to say the least. The leaders after the third round would always be paired together for the final round but not in this rain-delayed tournament. Day said he would have liked to be playing with Walker. That would have been nice, Day said. But under the circumstances, thats just how they work.Ten players didnt even hit a golf ball Saturday -- that meant Walker and Day and eight others played 36 holes Sunday -- and 37 others returned Sunday to complete the third round. Its really quite fun to see how far you can actually push yourself mentally, more so than physically, Day said. Playing 36 holes today, especially under the pump, not knowing what was going on, really, and finishing that way, was pretty special. The extra holes so the tournament would finish on time meant Matt Jones and Roberto Castro were teeing off on No. 1 in the fourth round while Walker and Robert Streb were getting to No. 6 in their third round. To add a little more confusion, the PGA of America decided that the fourth round would be played with lift, clean andd place rules in effect for balls in the fairway.ddddddddddddThats the first time in a major tournament the preferred lie rules was put in effect. Guess thats one more oddity for the 98th PGA Championship. My playing partner (Martin Kaymer) on the last hole there had a big chunk of mud on the ball and it went straight right and led to a bogey, British Open champion Henrik Stenson said between rounds. He closed with a 71 and finished tied for seventh with Kaymer and Streb at 8 under.Phil Mickelson, who won the PGA the last time it was played at Baltusrol in 2005 and finished at 3 under this week, was asked if the PGA of Americas decision to go with the preferred lies would inspire other majors to handle the same situation in the future.I hope so. I think its such the right call, he said. Theres so much element of luck involved if you dont do that because of the amount of mud that will get on the ball as well as the inability to finish the round because of not being able to take full relief from the fairway.I think it was a great call. I know its not one that is ideal. But unfortunately thats been the case this week because on the weekend this golf course was set up to be perfect for a major championship. And unfortunately the rains came and just softened the course exponentially.Because both rounds were going on simultaneously, the grounds crew workers werent able to attend to the greens as they usually does between rounds and that meant the greens were slower than usual and there were a ton of putts left short of the hole.On Friday, the cup on No. 10 was put on the wrong side of the green but the PGA Rules Committee didnt notice it until the first group off that tee had already hit their second shots so the cup was left on the right side for the remainder of the round. The PGA of America immediately owned up to the mistake and apologized for the mistake. An organization admitting it made an error in a major sporting event. Thats odd. ' ' '
