METAIRIE, La. -- Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro is facing a four-game suspension due to a positive test for Adderall, a league source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.Vaccaro on Friday confirmed that he is now waiting for the league to test a B (second) sample before finding out whether he will be suspended, and deciding whether to appeal, the source told Schefter. He declined to discuss any specific details of the reports.?Adderall is a stimulant that is banned by the NFL unless players receive league approval to use it.Im told not to make any comments on it right now until everything is final. Im not gonna come out and say anything right now, Vaccaro said Friday. He acknowledged, though, that it would be frustrating if he wound up missing four games down the stretch after the Saints (4-4) have climbed back into playoff contention. Were on a run, weve won four of the last five, Vaccaro said. But at the same time, it is what it is, and were working it out right now.The Saints host the Broncos on Sunday, then visit the Panthers on Thursday night. In the meantime, Vaccaro can continue to play, and he practiced with the team Thursday and Friday. The Saints have not been notified about Vaccaros situation by the NFL. The league also said that it has not been notified of a violation by the program administrators.Saints coach Sean Payton cracked to the media Friday, You guys will probably hear before me. You did yesterday. Were waiting, just like you guys are. You guys can keep me posted.Under NFL policy, neither the league nor the team would be notified of the situation unless both the A and B samples test positive.Losing Vaccaro for four games would be a big blow for an improving Saints defense that was just starting to get some key players back healthy.Vaccaros versatility has allowed the Saints to use a three-safety set as their base defense in recent weeks. The 6-foot, 214-pounder, a first-round 2013 pick out of Texas, moves around from traditional strong safety to slot cornerback to linebacker at times. He has two official forced fumbles and assisted on a third in a crucial moment at?San Diego?in Week 4.Vaccaro?ranks second on the team with 43 tackles. He also has a fumble recovery, a pass defense and five quarterback hits. The good news for the New Orleans defense is that safety is arguably its deepest position. Veteran Jairus Byrd and rookie Vonn Bell have shown improvement as the other two starters in recent weeks. And veteran Roman Harper was a starting strong safety for the past 10 years before taking a backup role with the Saints in 2016.Also, the Saints could go back to a more traditional use of three cornerbacks in their nickel defense packages now that top CBs Delvin Breaux and Sterling Moore have returned from injuries. The Saints have won four of their past five games after an 0-3 start. The defense still ranks 30th in the NFL in yards per game (408.5) and points per game (29.8) and 32nd in passing yards allowed per game (300).But the Saints have allowed 27 points or fewer in each of their past three games. And after setting the NFL record with 45 touchdown passes allowed in 2015, the Saints have allowed only 11 through the first eight games this year.Newest Chris Paul Shoes . But the Edmonton Oilers moved into a tie for first by beating the Dallas Stars on the road Saturday night. So going into Sundays game, the Ducks and Oilers lead the Kings by two points.Enhancing the intensity of Sundays game is the fact that Anaheim won 12 of the previous 16 against Los Angeles, including a 4-0 rout at the Staples Center in the teams first meeting this season Nov. 1.Its probably one of the best rivalries Ive ever played in, Ducks center Ryan Kesler told NHL.com. Its always a fun game to play. Every game is hard-fought.Kesler figures to play a pivotal role. The 13-year veteran, who scored seven of his team-high eight goals this month, needs one more to establish a personal record for November. Regarded as one the NHLs best defensive forwards, Kesler also will be expected to stifle the Kings top two centers, Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter. His value gets increased if its a Kopitar or a Carter, Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said about Kesler to the Los Angeles Times. As a coach, you feel comfortable playing him against those players. In big games, Kes has a way to step up to the next level. He always seems to have a little bit more to give you.Like Anaheim, the Kings take a two-game winning streak into Sundays game. Unlike the Ducks, however, Los Angeles has been playing without key contributoors.dddddddddddd Right winger Marian Gaborik has yet to appear for the Kings after breaking his foot while competing for Team Europe in the World Cup of Hockey. Kopitar, the Kings captain, missed the past four games with a wrist injury and remains day-to-day.With Kopitar out, Carter has become Los Angeles biggest offensive threat. Carter leads the team with seven goals and 14 points, including five goals and nine points in his past eight games.Jeff has carried the team on his back, Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter told LAKingsinsider.com after Saturdays 4-2 victory against New Jersey. Every time he was on the ice, he either had the puck or was making sure we were going to get the puck back. Hes shown a lot of leadership and has been a really, really good player for us.But the Kings biggest loss has been in the nets. Jonathan Quick, a finalist for last seasons Vezina Trophy, has not played since injuring his groin Oct. 12 in the season opener against the San Jose Sharks. Quicks backup, Jeff Zatkoff, missed 11 games because of his own groin injury. Zatkoff made his first start in 3 1/2 weeks Nov. 11 in Ottawa but pulled himself after two periods. In their place, Peter Budaj has provided stability. The 34-year-old veteran has played in 17 consecutive games (15 starts) and amassed nine wins while compiling a 2.11 goals-against average.Until this year, Budaj had not played a full NHL season since 2013-14, when he appeared in 24 games for the Montreal Canadiens. He spent the past two seasons in the AHL and played only one NHL game for the Kings last season. ' ' '
